Resident Reviews of Village Halls

The village is nice compared to the freshman dorm, but building 9 was extremely old. The heating and AC was barely functional, but other than that, the dorm was great.

Pretty good living area, it could be more spacious, but it allows both me and my roommate to live comfortably. The common area was sufficient for allowing others to come over and hang out and provide study space. Some stuff has stains and splatters on it, and they would not provide new furniture to replace it. Living space was on the other side of campus so during times of bad weather, it was a terrible walk.

I loved living in a suite because I did not have to share a communal bathroom with the entire floor. We received cleaning services almost every day and they did a very good job. The shower was pretty small so it was hard to fit all of our shower things in there. One of the sinks had a slow drain. The couch and chair we were provided with in the common space was stained. The window in the common space did not have a screen. The central heating/AC was impossible to control and did not match the temperature we set it to. It would get extremely hot in certain rooms, and freezing in others. The closet space was a little bit small, but anything that didn’t fit I stored in bins under the bed. One of the dryers in the laundry room was broken for the entire year. Other than that, the suites in Danforth are very nice for freshman dorm rooms. There was a common kitchen on the first floor.

the shower is small but each room had its own bathroom with two toilets, 2 sinks and one shower. we also had a common room in the suite that we shared which came with a couch that sat 3-4 people and a chair that only sat 1. considering this room had 6 occupants i think some more or larger furniture would have been appropriate. the quality of the furniture could’ve been better too but it wasn’t anything too awful. the beds were standard for a college dorm and slept two people in each of the 3 bedrooms. the bedroom size was good and the furniture in the bedrooms (a 2 door closet, a desk, a XL twin bed, and a dresser) was expected quality and appropriate to the room
